Gypsy Palace Tea menu

Masala Chai: A traditional tea from India made with milk, sugar, black tea and slowly-brewed spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, fennel and ginger. The word "Masala" refers to the spices. The word "Chai" means "tea", so it is redundant to call it "Chai Tea". The spices in Masala Chai aid digestion and stimulate circulation in the body. Gypsy Palace serves warm Masala Chai with steamed milk, or iced with cold milk.

Yerba Mate: The national beverage of Argentina, Yerba Mate (pronounced "Mah-tay") is enjoyed throughout South America. It has a bright, grassy flavor that may take some getting used to, but once one is accustomed to the taste it quickly becomes a morning ritual. Yerba Mate is a good source of B vitamins and minerals. It gets its "kick" from a compound called "Mateine" which is similar to caffeine in that both are stimulants, but Mateine has a more subtle and long-lasting effect. Yerba Mate provides a perfect energy boost without a jittery feeling and has been said to improve the quality of sleep at the end of the day. Some people prefer to drink Mate straight, as it is traditionally taken. It is also well-suited to being lightly sweetened with honey and lightened with milk, soy milk, or cream. Argentinians drink their Mate out of hollow, dried gourd cups (called Mates) and filtered through a metal straw called a Bombilla. Gypsy Palace will soon be selling Mates and Bombillas.
