As with most of my vintage treasures, this is a very unique piece which may be quite rare as I have been unable to find anything like it despite many hours of research. It is unsigned, with no markings whatsoever.
The setting is a saddle style with ornate engraving and filigree, and the bezel wraps organically around the focal which I have to assume is molded or carved resin of some type. I tested it for Bakelite and it was negative so it’s not a phenolic resin. I don’t believe this is real cinnabar but it was probably made to look like it. The widest part of the ring is about 1.25” and the band is adjustable. Weight is 19g. I’m so tempted to keep this one, but my lifestyle isn’t very compatible with ring-wearing these days. I’d be content just knowing it will be loved and admired because it’s truly something special.
I have other very unique and bold vintage and tribal-style jewelry in my shop so please check out my other listings.
