Vintage Brown BAKELITE Phenolic Resin Lg. Graduated Faceted Beads Necklace RARE FIND!

This is a 31” graduated strand of Phenolic Resin beads in opaque, gradient shades of brown and tan which have been cut into facets. It weighs 150 grams, including the base metal spacers. The beads test positive for Bakelite with Simichrome, but the construction of the clasp suggests that they are of Eastern origin. I spent four hours researching them to try and find a match to determine their age and ethnicity, but could not find a single necklace or any beads like these. I do not use the term “RARE” in my listings unless I have been unable to find another one like my item. It is hard to let them go because of this, but it is time to clear out old stock and prepare to begin making my own original jewelry again.


The necklace itself is in fantastic condition. A few of the beads have small chips which are largely unnoticeable when worn.
